Bintulu holds CNY open house in grand style

Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Norkiah visited CNY open house at the Bintulu civic centre on Feb 7.
BINTULU: Thousands of people from all walks of life attended the Chinese New Year open house at Bintulu Civic Centre here recently.

The open house was graced by Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhamddad Salahuddin Abang Barieng and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Norkiah, together with other state ministers and dignitaries.

Lion dances, singing and cultural dances by the now famous Sri Budaya Bintulu troupe were among activities to celeberate and entertain the audience.

It is said that this year’s CNY open house was much merrier compared to that last year, as the hall was packed with visitors.

The Head of State and his entourage then visited the homes of several well-known residents here namely prominent businessman Datuk Sri Yek Min Ek, Kapitan Francis Toh, Ling Kong Mee and others. Among the guests were Kemena assemblyman Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Jepak assemblyman Datuk Talib Zulpilip, Minister of Social Development and Urbanisation Dato Sri William Mawan Ikom, Bintulu Resident Dr Razali Abon and District Officer Bujang Budin.
