BINTULU: Each and every government servant, particularly those in the Agriculture Department, should regard their task and duty as an honour, Agriculture Department director Paul Vincent Ritom said.

“We should perceive our duty as an honour to serve in line with the call from the state secretary and several other senior government officers recently,” he said.

He said if there were shortcomings in terms of implementation of government programmes and projects, they must be solved and tackled immediately, especially in terms of service delivery.

“For us in the department (Agriculture), our main customers are people from the farming community.

“I welcome our customers who have complaints to make to forward them with complete proof and other information for us to take further action,” he said.

He was speaking during the opening of Bintulu Agriculture Department open day Saturday.

According to Vincent, all complaints would be treated fairly and solved accordingly.

“Excellent service is a must for all government servants,” the director said, adding that strategic approaches should be put into practice.

“Remember that we are here to give our best and excellent service to the community,” he stressed.

Touching on the open day, he said this is the fist such activity organised by the department here.

He said the programme should be used by the public, particularly the farmers to get to know more about the department’s function, products and programmes offered.
