BINTULU: Some 18 food items have been placed under the price control scheme for Hari Raya Aidilfitri from Aug 12 to 26.
Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Bintulu enforcement chief Mohamad Drahman said all traders here must put pink price tags on the price-controlled items to distinguish them from other goods.
He warned them not to sell the items above the ceiling price, failing which they would be punished under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.
“Our enforcement officers and price monitoring officers will be stationed at several locations to ensure that all the regulations are complied with,” said Mohamad on Tuesday.
The ceiling price per kg for the items in Bintulu, Tatau and Sebauh are: live chicken (RM6.70), standard chicken (RM8.50), super chicken (RM9.50), imported beef (RM24), local buffalo meat (RM23), Indonesia and China cabbage – excluding Beijing (RM3.00), red chilli (RM12), tomato (RM6), whole/ grated coconut (RM4.50), imported groundnut (RM6.50), Indian shallots (RM5.50), imported onion (RM6.00), China garlic (RM7.50), China potato (RM3.50) and Indian Mackarel (RM9) while grade A eggs are 36 sen each, Grade B (35 sen each) and Grade C (34 sen each).
